Indeed, Niagara Falls is one of the greatest wonders of the world attracting over 20 million visitors from all over the globe every year and having the most magnificent sights of the falls which surge strong forces of water from the Lake Erie down the Niagara River and into Lake Ontario.
If you’re not still aware, the Niagara Falls has much more to offer than the falls itself. With its entire magnificent splendor, the sight you’ll be able to see as you cross the border is packed with splendid attractions that you surely wouldn’t want to miss.
Getting There
Planning and preparing ahead makes crossing the border a lot easier so as to avoid traffic jams at the crossings. Make sure that you have with you all the important documents that are required from US visitors entering into Canada. Also be prepared to be questioned by the border officials and answer them politely and without any banter.
Three bridges can be accessed to cross the border. The main one is right in the Niagara Falls which is called the Rainbow Bridge. You can also enter through the Peace Bridge at Buffalo, NY or at the Lewiston Bridge to the north. There are also several available bus tours coming from all the northeastern states and arriving at Niagara Falls and Canada where most visitors usually stay for several days.
Opt for the best season when planning to visit the falls which is in the late April to early June in order for you to avoid the busiest part of the year. You can also go during the early fall in September to the early October or in the winter season since they are less busy and also a very romantic time for travelers.
What’s the Difference?
Though they are both magnificent in nature, there are actually considerable differences between the Canadian and US side of the Niagara Falls. Both have room accommodations and restaurants but Canada offers the nicer ones. There are very good casinos on both sides as well as the opportunity to access the Maid-of-the-Mist sightseeing boats. Moreover, both have numerous shops and activities but the ones in Canada are more various and pleasant especially those that kids like the most.
With their People-Mover Buses system, you can travel on the Canadian side of the falls the whole day as it operates from spring to fall along a 19-mile loop with all the Niagara Parks attractions on view. Indeed, it is evident that Canadians have forced much more money, efforts, and good preparation into their side of the falls. Try to visit both sides and you’ll see that the views, tourist attractions, flower gardens, and shops are much more pleasurable in Canada.
Main Tourist Spots and Attractions
The Niagara Falls on the side of Canada offers a wide variety of tourist attractions such as gaming, restaurants, bars and clubs, and duty-free shopping. Other famous attractions here include the Maid of the Mist, Goat Island, Cave of the Winds, Marineland, Niagara Falls Winter Garden, and Fort Erie. Offering a half-hour ride, the Maid of the Mist boat tours get you into the churning waters of the falls so be ready to get wet though they’ll offer you hooded raincoats in case you forget your own.
Canada hosts the Niagara Winter Festival which is a prominent event for travelers who long to witness the frozen splendor of the Niagara Falls. You may also want to go to the Festival of Lights, or watch Disney’s Beauty and the Beast performance on Niagara Center for the Arts, or keep yourself amused in the Niagara Casino Hotel or Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort.
Definitely a destination for travelers of all ages and interests, Niagara Falls provides not only a magnificent view of the splendid waterfalls but also the amenities and attractions that every tourist will surely enjoy.
