continuous humanitarian work which has been widely recognized internationally and locally. Colorful lights, flags and portraits of the Queen are bedecked on buildings along Ratchadamnoen Road and other main roads.

September – Korlae Boat Racing & Produce Festival. The festival features boat competitions along Nan River and promotes products of Narathiwat and other handicrafts made locally.

October – Wax Castle Festival. Creative miniature beeswax Buddhist temples and shrines mark the end of Buddhist Lent. You will also see a number of boat races and traditional and cultural performances.

November – Loi Kratong & Candle Festival. Locals gather for this memorable festival which originated in Sukothai, considered to be Thailand’s first capital, in order to commemorate the ruins of the ancient city. Activities include folk dancing, presentation of impressive light and sound, lighted candles and colorful fireworks.

December – HM the King’s Birthday. Displayed flags, lights and portraits of His Majesty the King are scattered all over the streets and buildings to honor him. Magnificent parade of troops marches in order to pay respect to the King. December 5, his date of birth is considered to be a public holiday in Thailand.
