Conceived and operated by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts division of The Walt Disney Company, Disneyland is widely regarded as the happiest place on Earth. It is located in Anaheim California and debuted on July 17, 1955. Disneyland was designed, built, opened, and operated by Walt Disney. The visitors to the park have exceeded 515 million guests since it opened, and these guests included Hollywood actors, rock stars, royalty and other heads of state. The information on the statistics of Disney is endless. After all, the happiest place on earth is also the most intriguing. And intriguing places usually have a long and bedecked history which translates into rich statistics.

Disneyland has always been the place where both parents and children can enjoy, the dedication to the park by Disney elaborates on the fact that this a park that is a mirror of the past, present and future and is open for all humanity to come and look at the American dream, that resolute spirit that built America and the causes the nourish the democratic nation of US. This forms the backbone of all Disneyland statistics.

Now for a quick summary of the park that will let the reader know about Disneyland. The park is cut into zones, upon entry in which, you forget not only the other zones but the world outside. The 5 main zones when the park opened were – Main Street, U.S.A., which is a 20th century American town, Adventureland, based on jungle journeys, Frontierland, speaking of the wild wild west, Fantasyland, the epitome of fantasy and Tomorrowland, looking into the future.

For some other Disneyland statistics we look at the other additional features that have been added (some removed!). They include – a circus and baseball diamond that were closed due to reasons unknown in late 1961. In 1966, New Orleans Square was added, which was based on 19th century New Orleans whereas in 1972, “Bear Country” was added. It was themed on the forests of the Pacific Northwest. It was later rechristened as Critter Country. In 1993, Mickey’s Toontown was unveiled. It was themed around the Toontown, also seen in the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Toontown was and still is a great crowd puller and will remain to be.

Another important addition was the monorail and the elevated railroad which circumnavigates the park. Still later, modeled on the State of California, Disney’s California Adventure Park was added in the space that was previously utilized as the Disney parking lot. But these are mere paper statistics – the actual statistics lie in the hearts of those millions who have been to Disneyland and felt it firsthand. Only those who have felt the beauty and joy of Disneyland can know about its ‘true’ statistics!
