When we talk about Christmas holiday traditions, perhaps the first thing that strikes our mind is Santa Claus. For more than hundreds of years, Santa Claus has been the main mascot of Christmas celebrations. Whether it is about sending Christmas greeting cards to friends and families, exchanging Christmas gifts, Christmas decorations, or other fun activities that are organized on this happy occasion, you can easily feel the presence of Santa Claus. In fact, the real spirit of modern day Christmas lies in the presence of Santa Claus. Christmas will not look like a real Christmas celebration if there is no Santa Claus around.
Does Santa Come In Reality?
As per the holiday traditions, children wait for Santa Claus on the Christmas Eve. They have a firm belief that Santa will come and bring lots of candies, and gifts for them. Well, no one knows if Santa ever comes in reality, but the ‘home-made’ Santa does bring gifts and candies for children. In fact, the practice of dressing up as Santa Claus and distributing gifts and candies is the main reason that Santa has remained the chief mascot of Christmas celebration. Santa has now become a jolly symbol that lights a smile on the face and gives happiness to the heart.
The Red Suit And The White Beard
The most common appearance of Santa Claus is a red suit and a white beard. However, some countries have experimented with the dress of Santa Claus, but one thing is still common over the globe – the ‘giving nature’ of Santa Claus.
Is Santa A Real Character?
This question comes in the mind of many children at some point of time during their childhood. The answer is ‘Yes’, as holiday traditions tell us that it was in actual St. Nicholas who was popular as the patron Saint of Giving. As per legends, he was born in 300 A.D. he was an orphan and his childhood was spent in a monastery. He later became a saint in the same monastery. Undoubtedly, he was a holy man. There are many tales associated with him that he used to distribute gifts and candies among the needy and poor children.
However, whether Santa is Claus is still living or not is a question with no answer. But, in a way, he is certainly still living with us, as we all have kept him alive. He lives within our hearts, as we cannot celebrate Christmas holiday traditions without his presence. We exchange gifts with each other on this occasion, and this is a symbol that he resides within us.
