When traveling, we very rarely forget to purchase travel insurance for ourselves. But what about your pets? Do they need to be insured?
Well the simple answer is yes, they certainly do!
If you are traveling with your pet, wouldn’t it give you peace of mind knowing they also have travel insurance?
Pet travel insurance will protect your against high vet fees if your pet happens to need a vet whilst on vacation. Vet fees can be outrageous at the best of times and like doctor fees, they will often charge more if you are not from the area or even worse, overseas.
Some well respected pet travel insurance companies include RSCPA, Direct Line, Petplan, More Than, Tesco and Marks & Spencer. You are even able to get online quotes as you do with your home and car insurance. It really could not be easier.
Your pet will be ensured against illness or injury. The extent of each policy depends on the company and which policy you choose, however these are the basic things that are covered by pet travel insurance.
Typically you will be able to claim for prescriptions, x-rays, tests, injections and general vet costs. This could be a tremendous load off your back as these expenses often run into the thousands of dollars if you are uninsured.
As with regular insurance, pet travel insurance will incur an excess cost. Shop around to find the best insurer for your needs but don’t always pick the one with the lowest excess as it could mean they do not provide the coverage of other policies.
The good news is that pet insurance costs nowhere near as much as human insurance! There really is no reason to overlook pet travel insurance when traveling with your beloved pet.
