Celebrating the New Year is all about partying until the wee hours of the morning. Australians sure do know how to party. At the stroke of midnight, a grand fireworks display will be held just above the Sydney Harbor Bridge. You can prefer to watch the fireworks with the view of the Sydney Opera House or you can spend it on the streets where people will party all night long. Today, Sydney has become the best destination to spend the New Year. Whether you are with your family, with your friends, with your significant other, or just alone, you can be sure that the City of Sydney will be able to accommodate your needs.
There are quite a lot of vantage points where you will be able to view the spectacular fireworks display. And, there are also different fireworks display aside from the usually stroke of midnight fireworks or the countdown to New Year eve’s fireworks. At 9:00 PM, there will be the traditional Family Fireworks, which will be followed by the Harbor of Light Parade.
At the stroke of midnight, people have said that the city of Sydney becomes the New Year’s capital of the world. The fireworks will be erupting along the Harbor from the east just off the Clark Island to the west at Cockatoo Island.
The grand fireworks display can be viewed from the Gladesville Bridge to the Harbor Heads. It is wise that you should plan ahead in order for you to be able to know and use the key vantage points where you and your friends or family will be able to get the best view in town.
So, just where are the best views for the fireworks?
The first is the Pyrmont Bay Park, Pyrmont. Here, there are no entrance fees. However, there are no toilets in the area and alcohol is not allowed. Also, no food and beverages will be available for sale in the park but there are hotels and restaurants in Darling Harbor that will be open to accommodate you. Fires are not allowed as well as pets.
Another prime destination is in Fort Denison, Sydney Harbor. It is a ticketed event, there are toilets available and alcohol will usually be included in the ticket price. You and your companions will also be able to enjoy a four course dinner that is usually included in the ticket price. Bringing your own alcohol is not allowed as well as pets. Included in the ticket price will be the return ferry transport from Circular Quay. Also, you may want to keep in mind that the capacity here is only about a hundred and fifty persons. This means that you may want to book early on in order to get accommodated.
Shark Island in Sydney Harbor is another great place to party and watch the fireworks. Like in Fort Denison, it is also a ticketed event. There are toilets available and alcoholic beverages are not for sale in the sight. However, drinking alcohol on site is allowed but you should bring your own. For food and beverages, you should also bring your own picnic backet as none is for sale on the site. Restrictions are no camping, no fires, and no pets.
