Want to save money on your Miami vacation? Of course you do. Who doesn’t want to have more money to spend on the fun things to do in Miami instead of spending money on things like cabs, airfare and hotels? Most people forget when they are calculating a vacation budget that many of the activities that you will want to do in Miami aren’t free. You can go horseback riding, jet skiing, snorkeling, and fishing or you can enjoy a trip through some of the world class museums, zoos and water attractions that Miami offers but you won’t be able to do it cheaply. But these attractions don’t have to be a budget buster for your vacation.

There are lots of ways that you can still enjoy all the exciting things that Miami has to offer while watching your vacation budget. When you travel you can save a lot of money on airfare if you book on certain days. Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday are the days when the fewest people fly so the planes are less crowded and you can save money if you fly on those days. If you are flexible about your flight days and times you can save hundreds of dollars on airfare without giving up any comfort. If you want to save money on a hotel you should book online. Compare prices on different sites and you can find a room at the hotel you want to stay at for significantly cheaper than it would cost if you booked through a travel agent or on the phone. Always look online for travel discounts before you book a flight or a hotel.

When you fly travel light. Try as hard as you can to fit everything you need into one suitcase or one carry on bag. If you can fit everything you need into one carryon bag you should still bring a suitcase with you because you will probably want to bring souvenirs home. But many airlines are now charging extra if you want to bring more than one bag with you on a flight so learn to pack light. Do laundry at the hotel so that you don’t need to bring as many outfits with you. Once you get to Miami take the free shuttle that most hotels offer to the hotel and skip the rental car. Or, take public transportation to your hotel instead of a cab. Cabs are very expensive. Taking the bus to your hotel instead of taking a cab can save you $30 or more. And taking a cab around the city when you’re shopping or sightseeing instead of taking a cab can save you even more.

Did you know that one of the biggest expenses that you can easily cut when you’re on vacation is food? If your hotel offers a free breakfast eat as much of the free breakfast as you can so that you won’t want to order a huge lunch or dinner. If you can stash a muffin or a bagel in your bag or purse for a mid morning snack it’s a good idea to do that. Want to eat a big name fancy restaurant but don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on dinner? Go to that big name fancy restaurant for lunch instead of dinner so that the prices will be lower. Then you can still tell everyone you ate at that well known restaurant but you won’t have to break your vacation budget to do it.
