The city of Winnipeg, considered as the gateway to Western Canada, lies in the junction of the Assiniboine and Red Rivers in Manitoba. As a natural history museum and an observatory or planetarium as well, it offers an exclusive journey through the entire province of Manitoba, the globe, and the universe.

The moment you enter don’t forget to take a glance at the Pool of the Black Star and the Grand Staircase which is lined with two huge Bison sculptures. The outside contains landscaped sceneries and numerous classical elements so keep in mind to explore it as well. The Golden Boy standing proudly on top of the building’s colossal domed roof is a very unique mark that you wouldn’t want to miss. Similar to the Greek or Roman figure of Hermes, the Golden Boy holds in his arms one of the major prairie crops in Manitoba which is wheat.
Assiniboine Park and Zoo
A beautiful green spot at the center of Winnipeg, the Assiniboine Park attracts a crowd of visitors especially on a bright sunny day. You can find a playground and eatery on the area and a gift shop as well which is positioned at the entrance or exit of the zoo. The Zoo offers you a horde of animals such as polar bears, bison, lions, snow leopards and many more.
If you’re interested, you can take a ride on a mini train which travels around the park. Or if you want some physical action, bring out your roller blades, Frisbee, or soccer ball and have fun in the vast green playing field.
