I agree on Indian Wells. Played some of the best golf ever at Indian Wells Golf Resort and had a great meal in the new IW Club there. Love this place. We have stayed at two of the four luxurious resorts which are all in walking distance so I don’t feel trapped in the hotel room. Started out coming here for a conference and now it is one of our favorite destinations for travel. Thanks for the great article.

My wife and I are originally from Atlanta, and we use to go to Florida frequently during the winter on vacation. We use to think it couldn’t get any better. Then about two years ago my wife, who was a travel nurse at the time, took a three month assignment at a local hospital in the Indian Wells area. We decided to take up permanent residence. This place is incredible, defies description. Epic scenery (San Jacinto, Santa Rosa and adjacent mountain ranges), miles and miles of hiking/ biking adventures and more sunshine, palm trees and warm weather than Florida could ever offer. Just two hours from the beach, an hour and a half from some of the best ski resorts in the country, Vegas, Lake Havasu, Joshua Tree, Los Angeles, all within striking distance. It’s just an incredible place all around. And right now in February it’s warmer and drier here than anywhere else in the country, including Florida!!
